M & S Ranch began in the spring of 2005 as a ranch project for Jesus and Dinah Mourra of San Antonio, TX. The Mourras wanted to develop a high quality deer herd to release to their property outside of Hondo, as well as to sell animals to other breeders and to help stock ranches across the state.

The herd at M & S Ranch began with a bred does purchase from the Sawdust Ranch (what has become the Triple JJJ Ranch) in Burleson County. The genetics from this purchase served as the foundation for our breeding program. M & S Whitetails purchased several incredible breeder bucks to integrate with our initial doe selection. From the Rebel Ranch in Live Oak County, we found our cornerstone breeder buck: Sundance (220”+ @ 4 yrs old). From Nooner Whitetails we purchased Goober (195” typical @ 4 yrs old), the full brother of Texas Hold’Em. At Lone Star Whitetail Ranch outside of Charlotte we found Comanche (185” typical @ 4 yrs old), a son of the legendary Amigo.

In recent years, we have integrated an AI program into our breeding plan to continue upgrading our pedigrees. 2007 was the firstyear of our AI program, and we went BIG with Stickers (356” @ 6 yrs old) as one of our AI sires..the biggest in Texas. In the fall of 2008 we were very fortunate to use Texas Hold’Em as one of our AI sires. This fantastic buck scored over 250” at four years old. The fall of 2009 was another fantastic year of breeding at M & S Whitetails, as we integrated another great producing line into our herd with the utilization of Green 764, a son of the legendary Maxbo that was born on the Tipps Ranch in south Texas.This incredible buck scored over 220” at two years old, even with significant damage to one side of his antlers.
